Jürgen Link was born in 1940 and lives in Hattingen. Studying German and Romance languages and literatures in Göttingen, Caen and Munich in the 60 years of 3 years in France (2 years lecturer in Besançon); committed many theoretical suggestions (structuralism, semiotics, structuralist Marxist Louis Althusser and others) in 1968 in the movement; then assistant (German literature) at the Ruhr-University Bochum, research and teaching on the basis of "new approaches" structuralist theory of collective symbolism, discourse theory, Foucault, research and teaching "alternative classical" specially Hölderlin and Schiller. Remains involved in alternative flows, contacts with alternative works lists (GOG = "trade union opposition group" Opel Bochum, "the area" Duisburg); own involvement in the GEW; since 1982 co-eds. the Cultural Revolution. Journal of Applied Discourse Theory (more than 50 issues). 1980-1992 Professor in Bochum, 1992/1993 Visiting Professor. Paris-VIII (Saint-Denis), 1993-2005 Professor in Dortmund (retired 2005); DFG research projects for national and collective symbolism "normalism" (1996:.
